Yet another Belgian family ! Commissioned by Paper Tiger TV, the dissident Smurf Mark Dion analyses the Smurf community, originally created by a Belgian cartoonist. A sarcastic voyage of exploration through the hierarchical nature of Smurfland. It is not cleanliness that is propagated here, as in Une Journée dans une Famille Belge, but rather the masked ideological undertone of Smurfland that is exposed. Smurfonomics, the toy industry and economy in childland are fully reviewed. This is followed by a playful analysis : how are political value judgements, ideological premises and stereotypes presented to children ? And : "Why is there only one woman in Smurfland?" |
