A Congolese scientist in a white coat tells with a puppet's voice about a working day in the life of the Stevens family in Belgium. Though this series was originally intended as propaganda to convey Belgian civilization and value judgements (such as cleanliness and soap) to the Congolese, it was actually far more successful among the white colonialists of the time ! Who is looking at whom ? This thoroughly anthropological look at Belgium, jammed full of hilarious stereotypes, reveals a repressed paternalism and Belgian narrow-mindedness. Exoticism at its best.
