After Les Maîtres Fous and Un Chien Délicieux, this is a third film in the series on the theme of culinary dogs. A sharp criticism of cultural stereotypes, by way of a witty look at the court case of two Cambodian immigrants who, in California, were indicted on a charge of butchering their dog and eating it, which is the custom in their home country. How do you define "domestic animal" in the letter of the law ? The rights of animals and cultural diversity meet (or otherwise) in the unshakable testimonies of dog-lovers and officers of the law : eating dog proves to be a surrealistic crime. In the meantime in the USA millions of animals are killed each year in the name of health, culinary gastronomy, fast-food chains, and science. |
